VOLUNTEERING

COSMIC are incredibly lucky to have amazing volunteers willing to help our small team make a big difference to so many lives at our varied, exciting events. For this valuable help, we cannot thank them enough.

Volunteering for COSMIC is both fun and rewarding.  We are always looking for new volunteers to sign up to help us!  Whatever time you can give us – whether it’s an hour or a day, there are many jobs, large and small, that can help us make such a big difference to children’s lives.  A few examples

  • Marshalling, giving out refreshments at the Tea Party, manning stalls for raffle prices, merchandise at our annual COSMIC WALK
  • Greeting guests to COSMIC events
  • Helping at the COSMIC Candlelight Christmas Concert, greeting guests, selling raffle tickets, serving teas, drinks to the guests
  • Helping out at the children’s COSMIC Christmas party – wrapping presents
  • Cheering for participants at challenge events i.e. London Marathon
  • Newsletter envelope stuffing and posting
  • Manning a stall at the Marylebone Fayre
  • Help at our amazing COSMIC Day
  • Organising and hosting a bucket collection

Here’s more information on the various events we would love to have help

COSMIC Walk – 25th June 2017

We are always in need of an extra hand or two at the COSMIC Walk, our longest running and most anticipated event that takes place every June. It’s always a jolly event whatever the weather and a chance for friends, families and supporters of COSMIC to join together.  We will need volunteers to help marshal the route through Paddington Green Recreation Ground, as well as helping out at the party for all the children and families taking part in the walk.  Duties such as setting up for the event, manning stalls and games as well as helping serve sandwiches and drinks.

Marylebone Fayre – 18th June 2017

We will need volunteers to take shifts helping to man the COSMIC Information stall at the Marylebone High Street Fayre as well as hand-collecting donations with our collection buckets and handing out COSMIC balloons to event-goers.

COSMIC Day – 20th July 2017

COSMIC Day is a whole day raising essential funds and awareness to the ‘Home from Home’ Parent Accommodation Appeal with activities in Merchant Square, Paddington. There’s a Duck Race and Dragon Boat Race in the afternoon as well as fairground games and a Cake Sale happening throughout the day.  We will need marshals for the duck race as well as volunteers to man the games and cake and information stand. We will also need to enlist helpers to hand out flyers, pointing the general public towards the event, as well as people collecting donations in our buckets.

COSMIC Candlelight Christmas Carol Concert

Every December we have a lovely Christmassy concert at St Matthews Church, Bayswater with carols, choirs and a visit from you-know- who! We need help setting up for the  Concert, such as placing candles around the venue and handing out programmes to guests coming in. We will also need help to set up the stalls where we give out festive treats and bubbly to the congregation and carollers.

COSMIC Christmas Party

We have many activity stalls at the Children’s Christmas party – so if you have an artistic talent such as face painting, glitter art or a desire to run one of our sweet shop stalls – then you’ll enjoy the fun and excitement too. We will also need some ‘elves’ to help behind the scenes at Santa’s Grotto; organising presents to give to the children who come to visit Santa and managing the steady stream of families coming into the grotto throughout the day.

Throughout the year
